Are assessed externally, AP by the College Board and ETS, DP by the International Baccalaureate Organization. AP differs from DP AP offers a cafeteria plan for which students can choose to take one AP course, several, or none. AP results are based upon a single assessment. AP is focused towards the educational system of the United States.
DP differs from AP DP provides a whole, integrated curriculum. Theory of Knowledge provides connections. Extended Essay requires independent research. CAS ensures well-roundedness. Internal Assessments measure a variety of skills. DP differs from AP DP is based upon multiple assessments, both Internal and External. Earning the IB DIPLOMA = 24 Points 4 / 7 points for each subject is passing (i.e. achieving 50 % correct equates to a 4). If you earn more than three 3s, you do not receive the diploma. Also, students must achieve 12 points total in their HL classes to get the diploma. These facts alone make HL courses very important. If you achieve an E (elementary) in TOK or on the EE, then it is considered to be a failing condition (i.e. no diploma). Not enough CAS is also a failing condition (i.e. no diploma).
