POSTGRADUATE CERTIFICATE - LEADERSHIP Workforce Development Department of Education The Department of Education is committed to strengthening school and system leadership as qualified, motivated and supported leaders play a critical role in improving the effectiveness of teachers and schools for the benefit of students. This postgraduate opportunity provides you with a qualification pathway in the specialisation area of leadership. It is open to Department employees from the school and non-school sectors. How do I attain this qualification? This UTAS Graduate Certificate is attained with the successful completion of four units with leadership-related content. Key points: Workforce Development manages this post graduate qualification - they coordinate your enrolment, funding agreement documentation and are the conduit between you and UTAS. The PLI facilitates entry pathways for DoE employees. It can be completed in 22 months. DoE employees are supported with a HECs scholarship that covers the costs of all four units. The selection and mode of unit delivery has been customised to meet DoE needs and workplace demands. How is this study customised for DoE employees?
A selection of units are PLI delivered programs that account for all the content except one 2500 word written assignment. A selection of units are UTAS delivered and include a workshop day at the PLI that is equivalent to 4 weeks online content; the balance of the unit is completed online. You can access paid study leave as per the DoE study guidelines There is a one semester study break this is nominated in the schedule and acknowledges how important it is for work-life balance. The option to continue with no break is also available. You can map your study across 22 months and plan this with your supervisor or principal; it is much easier for them to support you when they understand what it entails.
